Spring Equinox
Beautiful Yellow Daffodils
Spring Equinox took place on 20 March 2025 - the day of equilibrium. Where night and day were equal length. Marking the half way point between Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice.
We are at the point in the year that aligns with the Maiden Archetype, the waxing moon and early morning energy. This time of year also reflects our rising energy in the days before ovulation, during our menstrual cycle. To understand more about the intertwining of seasons & cycles, check out my Understanding Seasons and Cycles to change your life musings post here
For many, we are experiencing a shift from inward reflective, slower energy, to an outward doing energy. Can you feel it?
Go carefully….
When you look out in nature, what do you see? Buds on trees, blossom popping, insects returning, birds singing. Life, in all forms, is returning but we must remember to take it easy as we enter the world again. There is a long path ahead of us through spring, summer and into the harvest season of autumn, we do not want to overcommit and risk burn out.
Balance
The two equinox' that we experience (spring and autumn) are a time of balance - the balance between dark and light - and they are the perfect time of year to reflect on where you need to bring more balance into your life.
This time of year is also about Rebirth and Growth. Where we begin to plant actual and metaphorical seeds to nurture and grow over the coming seasons. Do you have a plan for your seeds? If not, read on for a practice I share at my women’s circles
Using a wheel of life and the acronym GROW, you can create an intentional and well thought out plan for yourself and your seeds. While this practice may feel a bit structured for some, it is a great tool to have in your tool basket, and it can help you avoid any feelings of disorganisation and thoughts of “I didn’t achieve much this year”.
How do you use the wheel of life and GROW
Find a quiet time in your day (which I know can feel impossible for many) and grab your journal or a couple of pieces of paper and a drink/snack. On your paper draw a large circle. Then add 10 rings inside your large circle starting in from the centre and working your way out. Next you will divide your circle, with it’s 10 rings, it into 8 segments (like how you would cut a pizza) - if this is feeling too complicated or you aren’t feeling creative you can download my free wheel here.
Next, label each ring a number starting at 1 in the centre and working your way out to 10. It should look like this;
Download the above wheel of life here
Now, you will label each segment/slice of your wheel of life with an area of your life - you only have 8 labels so choose wisely. Here are some examples;
Self-care / Health & Wellbeing / Perimenopause Knowledge / Family / Intimate Relationships / Friendships / Finances / Career or Business / Exercise / Fun & Creativity / Self-Development / Leisure / Spiritual
Once you have labeled your segments, you can rate the areas of your life from 1 (being unsatisfied) to 10 (being satisfied).
Now choose an area, or areas, to really focus on for the next part of this practice.
With another piece of paper, write down the following headings and questions (the lighter text are examples I am providing as a guide to this part of the practice).
G - goals:
Question: What are your goals for this area of your life?
R - resources
Question: What internal resources are you missing?
Confidence
Motivation
Space
Energy
Question: What internal resources do you have?
Desire for change

Equipment
The right space
Do not know where to go
The right company/tram
Question: What external resources do you have?

Mobile phone

An oven
O - obstacles
Question: We should be looking for solutions, not only listing problems
Money - how much do you need and how can you earn it?
Time - structure, schedules, organisation
Technology - learning about it or finding someone who can do it for you
W - way Forward
Question: Reflecting on the above, how can you move forward?
Commitment
Changing something
Finishing something
Whatever your reasons, whether its personal growth, striving for a better work life balance, to develop deeper relationships, to for your physical and emotional wellbeing working through the Wheel of Life and GROW practice can illuminate where to plant our seeds and what you need to nurture their growth.
What’s wonderful about this practice is that you can return to it again and again on the same area of your life or on different areas. The sky really is the limit.
